What is Botox used for?
Botox® is used to soften or eliminate dynamic wrinkles that are caused by muscle contraction. By relaxing the muscles, it allows the skin to recover and creates a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
Botox therapy can be used to
- Treat TMJ disorder, jaw muscle pain, square jaw, reduce clenching and bruxism (teeth grinding)
- Improve a gummy smile
- Reduce facial pain including frontal and temporal headaches and migraines
Botox® or Botulinum Toxin A is a purified protein / neurotoxin of the Clostridium Botulinum bacterium. When injected into the muscle, Botox binds to the nerve terminal and prevents the nerve from signaling. This causes temporary weakness and/or paralysis of the muscle. The degree of weakness depends on dosage. Botox typically takes 2-10 days to have full effect on the muscle and the effects typically last 3-4 months, but individual results may vary.
Here at Nay Dental, we are proud to offer JUVÉDERM® for our patients.
Many people do not like their facial wrinkles. Many people have a "gummy smile," meaning they have too much gum covering up most of their teeth. Some people also grind their teeth, giving them headaches and TMJ.
We are dedicated to help our patients who suffer from the above issues. This is why we offer JUVÉDERM®. It is a gel that is injected into your facial tissue to smooth out facial wrinkles around your nose and mouth. It can last up to a year.
Our entire staff is dedicated to your care. All our staff members have studied JUVÉDERM® along with your facial and dental anatomy so that they can apply the right amount of JUVÉDERM® in the right space to give you the results you deserve. It can be a complicated procedure, so you have to go to someone who understands the procedure and is able to get the results you want.
